Celica

The United States 6th generation Celica comes in two forms, the GT and the ST. The GT has the 5S-FE while the ST has the 7A-FE. Below is some information on both engines.

Horsepower:135@5400 RPM110@5600 RPM
Torque:145@4400 RPM115@2800 RPM

In addition to the engines being different, the GT and ST models differed in other places. The GTs come equipped with four wheel disc brakes while the STs have disc brakes on the front wheels and rear drum brakes. Both models have the option of ABS. The GTs have a sports package option which includes better suspension. The GT comes standard with fog lights from 1996 on. The STs have the option of fog lights. The stock wheels on the GTs are 15 inches while on the ST, they are 14 inches. The GT comes standard with a rear window wiper but on the ST, it is an option.

Sadly, the American version of this car doesn't have the option of a 3S-GE or 3S-GTE. The 3S-GE produces 197 horsepower and 152 torque. This engine is much more powerful than the most powerful American engine, the 5S-FE. In addition to the 3S-GE, the Japanese version of the car has the 3S-GTE. The 3S-GTE produces 251 horsepower and 225 torque. It would be nice if they offered these engines stock in an American version but since they dont, Americans have been putting them in GTs or STs. It is possible to get a 5th Generation Celica All Trac and take the 3S-GTE out of it and put it in the GT or ST. The total engine swap costs from $3,000 to $5,000. This is a big investment but will make the Celica a huge powerhouse.
